Bill on Securing America 7/18/23

Let me ask you about Barack Obama’s agenda here, as I see it, which is the fundamental transformation of our military. And as I think we are in the third term of the Obama-Biden presidency, we now have a general officer who was promoted quite aggressively, I think it’s fair to say, in the first two Biden, lower case Biden, Obama-Biden terms. Namely, General CQ Brown. He’s now been nominated by the president to become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Senate may act on that nomination as soon as this week. I personally believe it should be rejected, and in fact, we have at rejectgeneralbrown.org, a line act campaign that will facilitate you weighing in with your senators on this subject, if you care to do so. But Bill, as a leading member of our conservative movement, I think you signed a memorandum to the movement by the Conservative Action Project last week, in which several dozen of us said, this isn’t the right guy for the United States military at this time. Why is that so, sir?

Frank Gaffney (00:10):

Welcome back, and a very special welcome to a man who features prominently in this program. Usually about this time each week. We are very grateful for his participation in it, as well as many other things that he does for our country, and has in the past as well. He is among other things, a very experienced Wall Street Maven, a master of the universe as they call him. Recovering now. A man who went on, I’m very happy to say, to become a leader of our conservative movement in Washington, at the Council for National Policy, which I’m proud to be a member. His name is Bill Walton, and that’s really important because it helps you remember the Bill Walton Show, which I strongly commend to you as a very important TV podcast that covers an awful lot of waterfronts, including some that we have a chance to talk with him about each week. Bill, it’s good to have you back. Welcome, sir.

Bill Walton (01:04):

Frank, and thanks for that glowing intro.

Frank Gaffney (01:07):

Well deserved. Well deserved. Especially the recovering part. Bill, let me ask you-

Bill Walton (01:12):

I’m trying.

Frank Gaffney (01:13):

Bill Walton (02:39):

Well, he is the right guy, frank, if you want to radically jeopardize the unity, lethality, and readiness of our armed forces. I mean, we can get into the fact that he’s an outright racist. But let’s start with his stint as Secretary of the Air Force Branch of ours. Chief of Staff, sorry. And under his leadership, the readiness of our F15 aircraft dropped to 60%. Now it’s close to 50%. That means one out of every two aircraft that we use as our primary fighting instrument is not ready for war. And that happened under him. Also, our B2 bombers had to be grounded, every single one of them for six months, under his leadership. That happened twice. And that’s the first time that’s happened. I guess it happened once before, I think about a dozen years ago, 15 years ago. It’s unprecedented.

(03:40):

And now he’s turned his sights to balancing the racial component of the Air Force. He decided that only 47% of the Air Force officers could be white males. And that’s a bit of a problem when 87% of your pilots are white males. By the way, this is not something that he’s sort of saying in a speech. He’s rolled out a white paper on this and specified racial categories down to things that are unbelievably disturbing. Like one half of 1% of all officers in the Air Force need to be women from Hawaii. And it goes on and on. Talk about a rainbow coalition, this is more of a… Words fail. But anyway, so-

Frank Gaffney (04:36):

You started out though, Bill, where I think we should. And that is, is this actually consistent with unit cohesion, and good order and discipline in the ranks, if it essentially is a Marxist makeover of the military, designed to fracture the armed forces, set them against one another?

Bill Walton (05:03):

It does, Frank. Yeah, I served in the military. Not in the distinguished way that a lot of the other guests have. I was an E4. But you think about being in a platoon. If you’ve got a mandate or a leadership team that says everything is based on oppressors and oppressed, laced through with critical race theory, which says that whites are irretrievably racist, and there’s nothing they can do to redeem themselves, you’re in a combat situation with that kind of thought processes going. That’s absolutely the opposite of what you need. And one of the great achievements of the US military, particularly during World War II, was we rooted out a lot of the racist things that Woodrow Wilson had done during World War I. And it became the most colorblind institution in the country. And as a consequence-

Frank Gaffney (05:59):

Yeah. Certainly in the years after the war, for sure.

Bill Walton (06:01):

And in terms of effectiveness and in terms of the esteem to which Americans held it, it was the most approved institution we had. That’s beginning to plummet. And recruitment rates are beginning to plummet. And General Brown is exactly exhibit A for why this is happening. I mean, who would want to join if you’ve got a bunch of incompetent people? Let’s not talk about the racial aspects. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying, regardless of what color this man is, he can’t make the trains run on time. He can’t do simple things like maintaining the readiness of our air force. The man should not have a job. In fact, the man should actually be court-martialed.

Frank Gaffney (06:42):

Wow. Well, I think readiness is a complicated process, and it requires the absolute fixed attention of those serving in leadership positions in particular. And distracted with all of this other stuff doesn’t seem to be consistent with that.

Bill Walton (07:01):

Frank, if we thought Mark Milley has been a problem, we’re going to be dying to have him back, quite soon. And if there’s a single Republican senator [inaudible 00:07:10]-

Frank Gaffney (07:10):

Yeah, people have said this guy’s going to make Milley look like George Patton, unfortunately. Hey, Bill, before we run out of time, I did want to pivot to one other topic with you before letting you go. Important as General Brown is, and I appreciate your leadership in urging that people go to rejectgeneralbrown.org to let their senators know this is a man who should not be leading the United States military at the moment, John Kerry, I would argue, should not be leading the climate change agenda either. And yet there he is as we speak, in Beijing, setting aside, apparently everything else that is on the agenda with the Chinese Communist Party, not least their increasingly aggressive threats to us, in the name of enlisting their help with mitigating the climate’s change. Your thoughts, sir.

Bill Walton (08:11):

Well, let’s remind ourselves who John Kerry is. This is a man who recently intoned in a speech, “Well, our climate change and CO2 problems would be largely eliminated if we shut down agriculture.” What? Yeah, he said that. You can look it up. And he also-

Frank Gaffney (08:27):

Was cut down agriculture?

Bill Walton (08:29):

Yeah, shut it down.

Frank Gaffney (08:30):

Shut down agriculture?

Bill Walton (08:32):

Mechanized agriculture and cows and things like that, are causing incredible increases in CO2, according to him. And he would do radical things to change… Whether he meant that literally, I don’t know, it’s hard to read his mind. But he’s also said things at Davos, like, “Well, we’re here because we’re part of the elite who’s been chosen to lead the world out of this climate danger.” Now let’s pivot towards what he’s going to China to do. There’s a big issue here where the Biden administration believes that climate change is the biggest single threat we face. Not China, not even Russia. They think that climate is the biggest issue. And so Kerry intends to go hat in hand to extract climate concessions from China.

(09:23):

Now recall, as he will point out, China consumes or emits about 53% of the CO2 carbons in the entire world, and they’re also building a coal plant every two weeks. And they show no sign of shutting down their dependence on coal for energy. And yet he’ll get a concession from the Chinese that says, “Well, we promise to start doing this by 2030.” And of course in the meantime, that gets us nothing. And we’re not getting anything in terms of what their intentions are with Taiwan, the South China Sea, what they’re still doing on trade, what they’re doing with the Uyghurs and forced organ harvesting. I mean, all the things that really matter have been set aside with his monomaniacal focus on climate. He’s a madman. He’s a madman, we should not let him be over there representing the United States.

Frank Gaffney (10:19):

Yeah. And unfortunately, he’s the third in a succession of problematic emissaries that have been there of late. And it’s seven evident-

Bill Walton (10:29):

What did we call them, the pre-show, Frank?

Frank Gaffney (10:32):

Well-

Bill Walton (10:33):

I’ll take it for you. I’m already in trouble for what I said last week.

Frank Gaffney (10:37):

Shoot. Go for it.

Bill Walton (10:38):

I think we have the three stooges. We’ve got Blinken, Yellen and Kerry. Yeah.

Frank Gaffney (10:43):

Yeah.

Bill Walton (10:43):

And…

Frank Gaffney (10:46):

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

Bill Walton (10:46):

… Xi Wouldn’t even meet with Yellen. And when they met Blinken, he put him at the kids’ table in the big banquet hall. I mean, this is a man who doesn’t respect the people that America is sending, and we need to make some changes.

Frank Gaffney (11:01):

Well, I think there are a lot of us who don’t respect them either, is the truth of the matter. And for reasons among them that you’ve just mentioned, Bill Walton, tonight. And I think what’s so troubling, is if the stakes weren’t so high, and it goes back to what we talked about at the outset, General CQ Brown is promoting a Marxist makeover of our military that is definitely in the interest of the Chinese Communist Party. John Kerry is trying to make over our energy policies, that is definitely in the interest of the Chinese Communist Party. And Joe Biden is encouraging all of this in the third Obama-Biden term as I was talking about in the previous segment with our friend Jamie Glazov. Bill, we have to leave it at that for the moment. Thank you for your time today, sir. And remember folks, check out rejectgeneralbrown.org.

Bill Walton (11:54):

Yes.

Frank Gaffney (11:54):

Talk to you next week, Bill. Be right back with more. Stay tuned.
