Bill on Securing America 5/9/23 Part 1

This is the book. It’s called The Indictment, and I think you undersold it, Frank. I mean, this is about a 180-page book, including footnotes, appendices, charts, that sort of thing. My favorite kind of book. It’s short. But most importantly, if you want a one volume reference about why we need to focus on China, what’s at stake with China, what to do about it, this is it. I mean, Frank mentioned there are 9 basic areas where he focuses on… I guess we have together different points, what the Chinese Communist Party is all about, elite capture in America, their impact on our economy, what they’ve been doing work to undermine our energy security, and on and on. The information warfare, concern about the silicon chips and that sort of thing.

Frank Gaffney (00:18):

Welcome to Securing America with me, Frank Gaffney, the program that’s a kind of owner’s manual for protecting the country we love against all enemies foreign and domestic to the glory of God and his kingdom.

(00:31):

Well, when we talk about the country we love and enemies foreign and domestic that threaten it, and the urgent need for us to be protecting our country, I want to give you some good news. And it’s not necessarily that the things that we should worry about, specifically from China aren’t to be worried about. But at least I think we’ve got some help in understanding those threats from the Chinese Communist Party, and more to the point, getting some counsel on how to counter them effectively and appropriately.

(01:16):

Now this may sound a little immodest because I’m going to talk about my new book, which is out today, Tuesday, the 9th of May, and I hope that you will take a look at it. It’s called The Indictment, Prosecuting the Chinese Communist Party and Friends for Crimes against America, China, and the World. As you may have heard me say in the past, this book is the product of an unbelievably impressive collection of webinars conducted by our committee on the present danger of China, that have looked intensively into the kinds of unrestricted warfare the Chinese Communist Party has been raging against us for decades, and who has been enabling that warfare to the great detriment of our country right here in the United States of America.

(02:12):

The book has 9 different charges against the Chinese Communist Party starting with crimes against humanity. And the reason we start with that is those crimes are not only unimaginably and unprecedentedly horrific, by some accounts, a 100 million Chinese have been killed by their government over the past 70 years. Then there’s the problem that in addition to that, the plan for what the Chinese Communist Party would do to the rest of us if it can get their hands on us, is pretty much in evidence by what’s happened to the Chinese people. And oh, by the way, I don’t want to neglect to mention that by their own estimate, some 400 million babies in the womb have been murdered as well by the Chinese Communist Party.

(03:13):

So if you don’t like the look of all of that, you’re going to want to pay attention because the rest of the charges, 8 of them, to be precise, describe the kinds of warfare, war crimes that this transnational criminal organization has perpetrated against our economy, against our people, against our energy security, against our form of government, our constitution, our freedoms and more. Most importantly perhaps, we identify 20 specific steps that the United States must take in order to protect the country we love against this sort of threat. And needless to say, what may be in the offing that’s even worse, a shooting war that the Chinese dictator Xi Jinping seems intent on perpetrating.

(04:10):

A man who has contributed to those webinars as well as to our program, including this segment, I’m very pleased to say is a member of our committee on the present danger of China. A man who knows his way around Wall Street from his time running a major company there, $6 billion Allied Capital, and who these days is very much involved in war of ideas, notably with his own television podcast program. It’s called The Bill Walton Show. That would be of course, a regular about this time in the week, Bill Walton. We’re always delighted to have him with us. Bill. Enough about me. What did you think of my new book?

Bill Walton (04:52):

Well, let me plug it.

Frank Gaffney (04:55):

There it is.

Bill Walton (04:56):

(05:52):

And then as a recovering CEO, part two is what we must do. And there are 20 action steps. And then they’re not just action steps, but part three is how we get this done. And there’s a list of all the major contributors to the seminars, so if you want to reach out to people individually or check them out to look what their writings are about, you can do it just by owning this and spending some time with it. There’s a lot of confusion about China now, a lot of different competing agendas, and I think this is the most succinct summation of what’s at stake and what to do about it that I’ve seen.

Frank Gaffney (06:28):

Great. Bill, thank you very much. One other thing that I [inaudible 00:06:32]

Bill Walton (06:31):

It’s $19.95 on Amazon. Where can we buy the book, Frank?

Frank Gaffney (06:36):

Amazon.com is one place, Barnes and Noble is another. And of course, as of today, you should be able to find it in bookstores everywhere, I’m very pleased to say. I think we’ll be able to really equip you to understand this part of the most existential threat to freedom of our time.

(06:59):

And Bill, just one other item that I would mention is that we’ve got the list of the webinars themselves with all of the people who participated in them, and there’s a QR code associated with each of them. So if you’ve got the book, either the Kindle version or this version, you’ll be able to find and click on that particular webinar if you’d like to see more about it. And what we’ve really tried to do is get the highlights-

Bill Walton (07:28):

Yeah, I’m going to do my Vanna White here, Frank.

Frank Gaffney (07:30):

There we go.

Bill Walton (07:30):

This is what it looks like-

Frank Gaffney (07:32):

Thank you.

Bill Walton (07:33):

… scanning these QR codes, you can have access to the complete collection of webinars.

Frank Gaffney (07:39):

And what we’ve tried to do, as I said, is distill the highlights of them so that if you want to read more, if you want to get the context in which the quotes that are in the book can be found, you’ll find them at those QR codes. So Bill, thank you very much. I appreciate your…

Bill Walton (07:55):

But more on a personal note, Frank, I want to thank you for really raising my awareness about the issues that China presents for us today. And we joke about me being so-called recovering Wall Street guy. Well, 10 years ago I held all the conventional views. We wanted to outsource everything to China. We were going to sell to China. China was the world’s biggest market. They could manufacture everything. They were going to do all the hard work, and we were just going to reap the benefits of our massive trade deficit. And obviously things have not worked out that way. And I think you’ve really opened my eyes to all of these issues.

(08:35):

And I even remember that graphic, that line drawing many years ago. I think I first saw it in Stephen Covey’s book, 7 Habits of Effective People. And it’s a drawing that at first glance, it looks like a beautiful young woman with a parasol. And then if you shift your gaze a little bit, look a little bit, all of a sudden what you see instead is an ugly old witch. And China, it really operates in that in and out… One way you look at it, it’s beautiful, all the big companies are lusting after it because it’s got the largest consumer market by dollar size in the world. And everybody’s in. On the other hand, you look and you read this book about what’s actually going on the other side of that line drawing, the ugly witch part, it’s pretty devastating.

Frank Gaffney (09:24):

Yeah, I think they call that the Rorschach test, and it’s a classic. You’re right. Once you see that witch, you can’t ever unsee it.

Bill Walton (09:33):

You can’t unsee it.

Frank Gaffney (09:33):

And Bill, you’ve given me a great deal of credit there, but you’ve been studying this closely and-

Bill Walton (09:38):

Well, you’ve been working on it, Frank, successfully.

Frank Gaffney (09:40):

Well, I’ve been trying. I’ve been trying, and I think I’m registering some success there too. Bill, we have to pause. We’ll be right back with more of Bill Walton after this. Stay tuned.
